A store worker was shot and seriously wounded in a robbery at a grocery store in the Park Manor neighborhood on the South Side this evening. in the Park Manor neighborhood.
The man, who police said was believed to be in his early 50s, was taken from the shop in the 7100 block of South Rhodes Avenue to Northwestern Memorial Hospital in serious-to-critical.
The man was at the register in the grocery about 6:50 p.m. when a man armed with a handgun came into the store and demanded money, police said in a media release.
The robber then shot the store employee in the face and stomach and fled.
