A man is being questioned by detectives today in the shooting of a 16-year-old boy while the man was playing around with a gun at the convenience store where the boy works in the Jackson Park Highlands neighborhood.
The boy was being treated at Stroger Hospital after being shot in the right arm and side about 7:05 p.m. in the convenience store in the 1800 block of East 71st Street.
The man was playing with a gun when it discharged and wounded the boy who worked at the store.
The man at first drove the boy to Jackson Park Hospital, but he was later transferred to Stroger because of the severity of his injuries. After the shooting, police were able to find a gun belonging to the man at the scene.
Charges are pending against the man
