A 37-year-old man was in critical condition this morning after being shot on the West Side while opening a store for business.
The incident happened about 8 a.m. in the 300 block of North Laramie Avenue.
The man was outside the store when a gunman ran from across the street and opened fire, hitting him in the back, Kubiak said. The gunman then ran west down a nearby alley.
