An 11-year-old girl was wounded in her home by gunfire this afternoon in the Far South Side's Fernwood neighborhood.
The incident happened about 1:15 p.m. in the 10100 block of South Perry Avenue, O'Brien said. Witnesses told police that the bullets were fired from a passing vehicle and struck the girl after piercing the window of her home.
The girl was shot in one arm and taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn
