A Cook County judge today sentenced a man to 12 years in prison in the 2008 stabbing death of a street artist in a fight after a Logan Square party.
Tobolski was convicted in a bench trial in July of second-degree murder in the June 2008 death of Brendan Scanlon, a street artist who went by the name SOLVE and whose designs and stickers decorated street signs, newspaper boxes and public spaces across Chicago.
According to trial testimony, Scanlon pummeled a man after a party and ran into an alley, where the man’s friends, including Tobolski, caught up with him. While Scanlon was being pinned by another combatant, Tobolski stabbed him once in the chest with a switchblade.
