A man suspected of a carjacking an SUV on the Near Northwest Side on Tuesday morning is in custody at a hospital after crashing it into a building while attempting to flee police.
A man took a black Chevrolet Trailblazer SUV about 10:30 a.m. on the 2300 block of North Milwaukee Avenue.
Officers saw the Trailblazer about noon near Diversey and Sacramento, and took the man into custody, but not before he attempted to flee. The man crashed the SUV into a bus and a building, and he still tried to get away from police.
Officers were forced to Taser the suspect in order to subdue him.
The suspect was taken to Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center for precautionary reasons, Sullivan said. No one on the bus was injured.
