A man crossing Lake Shore Drive near Monroe Street was killed when he was struck by a vehicle shortly after 1 a.m. this morning.
the identity of the man, 50, is being withheld pending notification of his family.
Police said earlier in the morning the incident was a hit-and-run but later clarified that a 45-year-old male driver was taken into custody. They didn't have any other information about the driver.
He hasn't been charged but police said in a release that the incident may be related to driving under the influence.
