A Near West Side man has been charged with striking and killing a Washington man in a drunk driving accident on Lake Shore Drive near Millennium Park over the weekend.
Jimmy Members, 45, was charged with aggravated DUI and DUI and cited for striking a pedestrian in the roadway for the Saturday morning crash.
Police said that Members was behind the wheel of the Cadillac Seville that struck Stephen Dapogny, 50, as he crossed Lake Shore Drive.
Dapogny, of Redmond, Wash., was rushed to nearby Northwestern Memorial Hospital, where he was pronounced dead 12 minutes after the crash.
Authorities took Members into custody at the scene suspecting the crash involved alcohol, police said.
Members, of the 2400 block of West Madison Street, is expected to appear in Central Bond Court later this morning.
