Chicago police issued a community alert today warning the public about a string of armed robberies that occurred on the South Side.
Officials said four armed robberies that occurred between May 27 and June 22 appear to be linked. In each case two men displayed black handguns and demanded money from the victims.
The four armed robberies were: at 7:25 p.m. on May 27 at an apartment on the 7200 block of South Stony Island Avenue; at 10:39 p.m. on June 5 in an alley on the 1500 block of East 74th Place; at 3:45 p.m. on June 10 on the 7200 block of South Exchange Avenue, and on June 22 on the 6300 block of South Shore Drive, police said.
Both of the suspects are described as black men between the ages of 17 and 25 years of age, police said.
One of the men is described as being between 170 and 200 pounds, between 5 feet 8 inches and 6 feet 2 inches tall with a light complexion and with dreadlocks.
The second man is described as between 140 and 170 pounds, between 5 feet 6 inches and 6 feet tall, with a dark complexion and short hair.
