Metra trains on the Milwaukee District North line were stopped near Racine Avenue this morning after an outbound train struck a pedestrian, a spokeswoman for the agency said.
One person was taken in critical condition from the scene on the tracks near Aberdeen Avenue, which is two block east of Racine, said Chicago Fire Department spokesman Rich Rosado.
At about 8:45 a.m., Train No. 2109, outbound for Fox Lake, struck the pedestrian, said Metra spokeswoman Meg Reile.
That train and inbound train No. 2124 were stopped as of about 9:10 a.m. Reile said trains on the Milwaukee District West and North Central Service lines could be also be affected, depending on how long traffic is stopped.
More details to come.
