A Chicago man was sentenced to 120 years in prison today for killing a man in 2007 and wounding the man's female companion in front of a 4-year-old child, officials said.
Kenyatta Brown, 29, of the 12500 block of South State Street, had been convicted in 2009 of the killing of Frank Lucas, 26, of the 11500 block of South Eggleston Avenue, said Andy Conklin, a spokesman for the Cook County State's Attorney's office.
Lucas was shot on February 4, 2007 and died several days later on February 8, officials said.
Lucas was in his parked car at about 1:30 a.m. on the 12000 block of South Indiana Avenue when Brown and another man, Dwight Thomas, shot Lucas multiple times, police said.
Lucas' female companion suffered a graze wound. The shooting occurred in front of the 4-year-old child who was not injured, officials said.
Cook County Judge Thomas Hennelly sentenced Brown who was convicted in a 2009 jury trial. Thomas was sentenced to 81 years in prison.
