A 33-year-old man died early Friday from wounds he suffered late May in a shooting on the city's West Side, officials said today
Otis Sanders, 33, of the 5300 block of West Ferdinand Street was pronounced dead at 2:24 a.m. Friday at Mount Sinai Hospital, according to a spokesman for the Cook County medical examiner's office.
Sanders was shot May 30 about 11:30 p.m. on the 700 block of North Pine Avenue, said Police News Affairs Officer John Mirabelli.
Preliminary reports stated Sanders was a passenger in a car when someone pulled alongside and opened fire, striking him in the buttocks, police said.
Police believe Sanders knew his attacker and are following leads to find the suspect, Mirabelli said.
As of Saturday afternoon, no one was in custody.
