An 18-year-old man was fatally shot on a street in the Back of the Yards neighborhood on the South Side, police said this morning.
Authorities said the victim was talking with a friend around 8:30 p.m. in the 5300 block of South Wood Street, when a gunman approached from behind and shot the man in the back of the head at close range.
The victim, Estavion Green, of the 5400 block of South Wood Street, was taken to Stroger Hospital, where he was pronounced dead, according to the Cook County medical examiner's office.
Police describe the gunman as an African-American male, about 17 years old, about 5-foot-7 inches tall with short dreadlocks. He was last scene wearing a White T-shirt with khaki pants and fled the scene in a maroon-colored vehicle believed to be a Chevrolet Lumina.
No arrests had been made in the shooting and police offered no motive.
