A man was shot after he pointed a gun at a Chicago police officer following a traffic stop near Garfield Park on the West Side late this afternoon, police said.
One person was taken in serious-to-critical condition to Mount Sinai Hospital from the 3700 block of West Washington Boulevard after Fire Department ambulances were dispatched to deal with a person shot, said fire spokesman Richard Rosado.
The man was stopped by police about 5:50 p.m. and someone in the car had a gun in his hand when officers stopped the car, police said.
When police told the man to drop the weapon, he did not, and an officer shot him in the leg, police said.
