Chicago police are searching for the driver of a SUV involved in a hit-and-run crash on the Near West Side that seriously injured an adult and three children.
The incident happened at about 4:50 p.m. in the 1600 block of West Jackson Boulevard, said Chicago Police Officer Dan O'Brien.
A red SUV struck the four pedestrians and then sped off, he said.
The victims were a woman and three children, said Fire Department spokesman Larry Langford. All were taken in serious-to-critical condition to Stroger Hospital, he said.
Langford could not provide ages for the victims.
The sport utility vehicle was found "some distance" from the accident scene, O'Brien said. He could not provide a description of the driver being sought.
The police Major Accident Investigation Unit is looking in to the crash.
