A person was seriously wounded in a police-involved shooting this afternoon in the West Humboldt Park neighborhood on the West Side -- on the same block where a 15-year-old boy was gunned down earlier this week on his birthday.
The shooting occurred about 4:50 p.m. near the intersection of Kolin Avenue and Hirsch Street, said Chicago Police Officer Darryl Baety. The shooting was police-involved, but no further details were immediately available, although it did not appear a police officer was shot, said a spokesman for the Independent Police Review Authority.
The victim was taken in serious-to-critical condition to Mount Sinai Hospital.
Jovany Diaz was killed while celebrating his birthday Monday in a front yard of a home in the 4300 block of West Hirsch Street. A gunman approached from across the street and opened fire, police said.
On Tuesday afternoon, a 24-year-old man was wounded in the legs on the same block
