A Chicago woman was charged with aggravated battery after bragging on Facebook how she hit a woman in the face with a glass during an argument at a Near North bar last month, prosecutors said today.
The incident occurred April 22 at The Leg Room, 7 W. Division St. Ruth Ramirez, 26, was quarreling with the 29-year-old victim –- whom she did not know --when she smashed a glass into the victim’s face and fled, prosecutors said.
The victim was treated at St. Mary of Nazareth Hospital for multiple lacerations to her left eye and cheek, according to court records.
The next day, the victim’s friend was on Facebook when she noticed a comment Ramirez had posted bragging about the incident, Cook County Assistant State’s Attorney Erin Antonietti said. She showed the post to the victim, who identified her attacker by the photograph posted on the profile.
The victim called police and gave them the information, and an investigative alert was issued. Ramirez turned herself in at the Belmont Area headquarters on Tuesday, records show.
Ramirez, of the 3700 block of West Division Street, has two misdemeanor shoplifting convictions on her record, but no history of violent offenses, records show.
Judge Adam Bourgeois Jr. set bail at $100,000.
