Mom of teen slain by cops: 'No reason to kill a child' (Boo Freaking Who)

Chicago police shot and killed a 15-year-old boy after he pointed a gun at officers who were investigating a robbery in the South Shore neighborhood, authorities said.

The suspect was identified as Tatioun Williams of the 1300 block of East 69th Street, according to police and the medical examiner's office.

"They (are) lying. My son would never carry a gun," said his distraught motheer, Lois Pickett. "He ain't never done that, they can't say that."
"The police officers killed him!" she cried in a telephone interview with the Tribune. Tatioun was the oldest of five siblings.   "Yes, he has (previous arrests), but that's not a reason to kill him," Pickett said between tearful sobs. "That's no reason to kill a child."
"They could have taken him to jail, they could have done anything but taken his life."
She said she first heard about the shooting on a late Wednesday evening news broadcast, but had no clue that her son was already dead.
Pickett remembered turning to another son and saying "'I hope it wasn't one of ya'll friends. That's right around the corner from us.'"
Police said two Grand Crossing District sergeants responding to a reported robbery were flagged down by a witness at East 69th Street and South Bennett Avenue around 8 p.m. Wednesday, authorities said.
After the witness pointed them in the direction of the suspects, the sergeants -- in uniform and in a marked squad car -- spotted two suspects matching the description and approached.

The officers ordered them to stop, and one of the suspects turned and pointed a gun at them, authorities said. At least one of the sergeants fired, striking the boy in the upper back, authorities said. The boy was taken to
Northwestern Memorial Hospital, where he was pronounced dead, police said. A gun was recovered, they said.

The second suspect, also a teen, was taken into custody and charges are pending, authorities said.

The robbery victim told police he was getting out of his vehicle near his home when the teens approached, aiming a gun at him. They took his wallet and
iPod, which police said was recovered after the shooting
