Man slain after attending wake for gang member

A 23-year-old man was found fatally shot this morning in a Logan Square alley after he and another man were fired on while returning from the wake of a recently killed gangmember, police said.
Emigdio Ortega, of the 2600 block of North Fairfield Avenue, was found by police in an alley on the 2700 block of North Albany Avenue, according to police and the Cook County medical examiner's office.
Ortega and another man who is a known gangmember were walking from the home of a gangmember who was recently killed in an unrelated incident, police said. There is no indication that Ortega was a gang member, according to police and records.
The two men were confronted on the 3100 block of West Schubert Avenue about 4 a.m. when another man came out of a gangway and began shooting at them, police said.
Ortega and his companion  separated and ran to avoid being shot.
Officers responding to a call about the shots being fired were flagged down by the surviving man, who was not wounded, near the Blue Line CTA station on Milwaukee Avenue, police said.
Police found Ortega's body in the alley; he had sustained a gunshot wound to his shoulder and his right elbow, police said. The man was pronounced dead at the scene about 5:30 a.m., police said.
The offender is described as a light-skin Hispanic man in his 20s between 5 feet 8 inches and 5 feet 9 inches tall, weighing between 150 to 160 pounds, and wearing a red cap and red jacket, police said.
An autopsy is scheduled for Wednesday, officials said.
