A man was pronounced dead after his vehicle crashed into a viaduct late Sunday night in the city's Grand Crossing neighborhood on the South Side.
The car crash happened about 11:43 p.m. on the 7500 block of South South Chicago Avenue, police said.
According to preliminary reports, the car crashed into a viaduct and the victim was found unresponsive at the scene.
The man was pronounced dead at the Stein Institute this morning, according to a spokesman for the Cook County medical examiner's office. The spokesman said he suffered burns, but the cause of death was pending autopsy results. So far the victim has not been identified.
The cause of the crash was being investigated by the Chicago Police Major Accident Investigation Unit
