A 21-year-old man died late Monday night following a shooting steps away from his residence in the Roseland neighborhood.
The victim was identified as Willie Cole III of the 10600 block of South Champlain Avenue, according to a spokeswoman for the Cook County medical examiner's office.
Officers responded shortly before 11 p.m. to a call of a person shot on the 10600 block of South Champlain Avenue, police said. When they arrived, they found Cole lying on the street with gunshot wounds to his neck and chest area.
Cole man was taken to Roseland Community Hospital where he was pronounced dead about 30 minutes later, police said.
As of 12:30 a.m., no one was in custody for the shooting. Calumet Area detectives were investigating.
