A Northwest Side teen has been charged in a Saturday gang-related shooting that left a 23-year-old woman in critical condition, prosecutors said.
The woman was struck in the hand and head in the early morning hours Saturday when 17-year-old Anthony Figueroa fired shots into the car in which she was riding, prosecutors said today. The shooting happened in the 5500 block of West Fullerton Avenue in the Belmont Cragin neighborhood on the Northwest Side.
Prosecutors allege Figueroa approached the car and asked the passengers their gang affiliation. When the passengers didn't respond, he fired an unknown number of shots into the car before fleeing.
Figueroa, of the 3200 block of North Narragansett Avenue, was arrested a few blocks away and was identified by the other passengers in the vehicle, prosecutors said today in Cook County bond court.
The woman was transported to Our Lady of the Resurrection Hospital and is on a ventilator, prosecutors said.
