Man shot in Burnside neighborhood

A man was shot in his leg in the 9200 block of Woodlawn Avenue in the Burnside neighborhood. He was transported to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn.
He was standing in front of a house when two men walked out of an alley and opened fire on him.
The victim took off running but was shot twice in his legs and collapsed behind a home, where police found him.

Man shot dead in Burnside neighborhood

A man in his 20s died late Wednesday night after being shot in the 9400 block of South Avalon Avenue in the city's Burnside neighborhood.
The man, whose identity wasn't available Thursday morning, was pronounced dead at the scene at 10:25 p.m..
About 10 p.m., police responded to a call about an accident in the 9300 block of South Avalon Avenue. Witnesses told police they heard a vehicle traveling at a high-rate of speed before a crash.
Apparently, the victim was shot and crashed into a parked vehicle before driving on the 9400 block of South Avalon Avenue where he crashed into a wooded area, police said. The victim was driving a 2005 Volkswagen Passat.
UPDATE: The Cook County medical examiner's office this morning identified a man found shot in the head Wednesday night in the city's Burnside neighborhood as Lenwood Heason, 32, of the 1200 block of East 168th Street in South Holland.

2 shot in Calumet Heights neighborhood

The latest shooting happened about 8:15 p.m. on the 2100 block of East 93rd Street in the Calumet Heights neighborhood.
In that shooting an 18-year-old man was shot in his leg. The second victim, whose age was unknown, suffered a wound to his thigh.

Man dies 2 days after being shot in face on South Side

A 23-year-old man has died two days after a gunman shot him in the face on the rear porch of a home on the city's South Side.
Alexander McDonald, 23, was pronounced dead Wednesday afternoon at Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn.
Police said that McDonald was shot at about 1:45 p.m. Monday in the 9200 block of South Blackstone Avenue.
McDonald was on a rear porch with an acquaintance when a gunman approached and opened fire, striking him in the face, said Officer Michael Sullivan.
There were conflicting reports on whether the gunman emerged from a gangway or from the a vehicle passing through an alley.

Man hit with brick, critically hurt in fight with girlfriend

A woman was arrested early Monday for allegedly hitting her boyfriend in the head with a brick during an argument, critically injuring the 63-year-old man.
 The suspect, a 53-year-old woman, was arguing with her live-in boyfriend at their home in the 9700 block of South Avenue L when she allegedly struck him in the back of the head with the brick about 9:40 p.m..
 He lost consciousness and suffered a 4-inch laceration, police said. He was taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital in critical condition.
 The suspect had already fled when a 911 call summoned police to the address, but was arrested several hours later at the home when officers returned to look for her.

Man arrested after fondling, trying to abduct woman on street

Chicago police arrested a man they believe fondled a young woman before he tried to force her inside his vehicle.
The incident happened at about 6 p.m. Sunday in the 3200 block of East 91st Street in the South Chicago neighborhood.
After being called over by a male motorist whom she said she had recognized from the neighborhood but wasn't acquainted with, the woman said the man fondled her before he tried pulling her inside.
The 20-year-old woman managed to fight off her attacker and fled, while her assailant fled in his vehicle, police said.
Police arrested the 31-year-old suspect a short time later, and the victim identified him as her attacker.

34-year-old man seriously wounded in a drive-by shooting

About 9:35 p.m. Saturday, a 34-year-old man was seriously wounded in a drive-by shooting on the Far South Side in the city's Jeffery Manor neighborhood.
That shooting happened on the 9800 block of South Hoxie Avenue.
Preliminary reports said the man was standing on the sidewalk when a light-colored van drove by and someone fired shots, striking the man in his back and knee.
The victim was taken in serious-to-critical condition to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn

Infant girl shot in South Chicago

Details at this time are sketchy
A shooting this morning in the South Chicago neighborhood has resulted in at least one person  an infant girl  being taken to the hospital.
The incident at 84th Street and Muskegon Avenue involved a mother and her infant daughter. The mother heard shots and fell on the child.
It’s unclear exactly how the infant was injured, police said, but she suffered a head trauma and was taken first to Advocate Trinity Hospital before being transferred to Children's Memorial Hospital.
No age or condition was available on the infant at this time.
Update:
The incident happened about 8:11 a.m. at 84th Street and Muskegon Avenue, where the child and her 15-year-old aunt were walking a dog. The aunt heard shots and fell on the child. Earlier police reports had said the child was with her mother.
A man was bicycling in the area near the woman and her child when two male teens began shooting at the bicyclist, who managed to get away.
The child was hit by one of the bullets and was taken by family first to Advocate Trinity Hospital before being transferred to Children's Memorial Hospital where she underwent surgery.

15-year-old boy was shot in South Chicago neighborhood

A 15-year-old boy was shot in the leg at 12:49 a.m. as he was sitting on a second-floor porch in the 8800 block of South Exchange Avenue in the South Chicago neighborhood on the Southeast Side. Police said he heard shots and then realized he had been hit.
He was in stable condition at Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn.

A 31-year-old man was shot in the ankle and the side of his mouth at 10:54 p.m. in the 7800 block of South Cregier Avenue in the Avalon Park neighborhood on the Southeast Side.
As he was walking on the sidewalk, shots were fired from a white van. He was reported in stable condition.

At least 37 juveniles were arrested Friday night for disorderly conduct at a South Side park in the city's Avalon Park neighborhood.

Man shot dead in Jeffery Manor neighborhood

A 30-year-old man was shot and killed this morning on a street in the Jeffery Manor neighborhood.
The incident was reported at about 4:15 a.m. in the 2300 block of East 99th Street.
Officers responded to a call of a person shot and when they arrived, they found the man lying in the street with multiple gunshot wounds to his chest.
The man was identified as Daryl Loving of the 9100 block of South Oglesby Avenue.

Worker killed at South Side meat market (Hey not far from the new Rainbow beach "Integration plaque"

This morning, Alfredo Cuellar was carrying ice into the market near the corner of Marquette Avenue and 79th Street when he was killed by a stray bullet from a gang fight that ripped through the wall of the store and hit him in the chest.

A witness said two teens ran into his shop around 10:30 a.m., apparently being chased by people in an SUV on 79th Street. The teens in the shop were throwing gang signs to the people in the SUV, the employee said.

 The teens ran outside and then into the meat market, and those in the SUV opened fire.

Cuellar was returning with bags of ice for the chicken cooler when he was struck by the stray bullet.
Cuellar's family -- a wife and four children -- still live in Cuernavaca, Mexico.

21, 41 year olds shot UPDATE DOA

About 10:48 p.m. Saturday in the city's Stony Island Park neighborhood, two men, ages 21 and 41, were shot by somene in a gangway as they were standing in a yard on the 8200 block of South East End Avenue.
The 21-year-old suffered a gunshot wound to his abdomen and was taken in serious condition to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn. The second victim suffered a graze wound to his toe and was treated on the scene.
UPDATE
The 22-year-old, later identified by the medical examiner as Sean Avery of the 8200 block of East End, suffered a gunshot wound to his abdomen and was taken in serious condition to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, where he was pronounced dead at 3:35 a.m.

Woman wounded in South Shore shooting

Police are investigating a shooting in the South Shore neighborhood this afternoon that left a woman in her 30s critically injured.

The incident happened at about 4:50 p.m. near 79th Street and Essex Avenue, said Chicago Police Officer Dan O’Brien. The woman was shot in the head and taken to South Shore Hospital, he saidThe woman was transported in critical condition, said a spokesman for the Chicago Fire Department.

4 wounded in separate South, West Side shootings

Four people were wounded in separate shootings over the afternoon and evening on the city's South and West sides, officials said.
The latest shooting happened shortly before 8 p.m. on the 3800 block of West Roosevelt Road in the city's Lawndale neighborhood on the West Side.
Preliminary reports stated a 32-year-old man was standing on the sidewalk when someone pulled up in a vehicle and shot him.
The man suffered wounds to his thigh and shoulder and was taken in serious condition to Mount Sinai Hospital, police said.

About 7:15 p.m., a teen was shot on the South Side in the city's Marquette Park neighborhood, police said.
That shooting occurred on the 7100 block of South California Avenue. Preliminary reports said the youth, 17, was discovered with a gunshot wound to his buttocks. He was taken in good condition to Mount Sinai Hospital.

Another teen was shot shortly after 6 p.m. on the South Side in the city's Calumet Heights neighborhood.
That shooting happened on the 9000 block of South Yates Boulevard, police said. Preliminary reports stated the youth was walking on the street when he heard shots and realized he had been shot in the face.
The boy was taken to Advocate Trinity Hospital where he was listed in good condition, police said.

Earlier in the dafternoon, a 25-year-old man was shot on the West Side in the city's Austin neighborhood, police said.
That shooting happened about 3:35 p.m. on the 100 block of North Latrobe Avenue. Preliminary reports said the man was taken in serious condition to Mount Sinai Hospital with wounds to his buttocks.
As of 10:45 p.m., no one was in custody for any of the shootings. Calumet Area, Wentworth Area, Harrison Area and Grand Central Area detectives are investigating.

A 21-year-old man died and a 16-year-old boy was injured after they were shot this afternoon in the Burnside neighborhood, police said.
The two were found shot on the 9200 block of South Dobson Avenue at 3:50 p.m., police said.
The two were taken to Advocate Trinity Hospital for treatment, police said.
The 21-year-old man, identified as Dante L. McKinney, of the 9300 block of South Avalon Avenue, was later pronounced dead, according to the Cook County medical examiner's office.
Police did not have any other information.
An autopsy is scheduled for Thursday
