3 young teens rob 2 women near Chinatown

Police say three teens --11, 14 and 16 -- robbed two Florida women just south of Chinatown after threatening to shoot them and hitting one of them in the face.
The women, 23 and 25, were in the 2600 block of Wentworth Avenue when the teens approached them around 7 p.m. Thursday.
“Give me your purse or I will shoot you,” the 14-year-old told one of the women.
While she handed it over,  the 16-year-old hit the other woman on the left side of her face and demanded her cell phone and purse.
She handed them over and the three fled.
Police were called and Deering District officers spotted the teens walking in the 2600 block of South Wabash Avenue, about a block east of the robbery.
The three saw the officers and starting running, the 14-year-old dropping a BB gun as he fled. He was arrested along with the 16-year-old, who dropped a cell phone belonging to one of the women as he was being chased.
The 11-year-old was arrested later at his home.
Each teen was charged as a juvenile with aggravated robbery.

Bicyclist dies a day after crash in Chinatown

A 68-year-old bicyclist died Friday morning, a day after he crashed into a vehicle on the Southwest Side in the city's Chinatown neighborhood.
Yuan Zeng, of the 2600 block of South Quinn Street, was pronounced dead at 6:34 a.m. at John H. Stroger, Jr. Hospital.
Zeng struck the passenger side of a vehicle shortly after 10 a.m. Thursday near Archer Avenue and 24th Street. The impact of the collision forced him onto the windshield and into the road.
Zeng was taken in critical condition to Stroger Hospital where he died a day later.

25-year-old man shot in Chinatown

At 4:20 a.m., a 25-year-old man was shot while riding in a vehicle in the 2400 block of South Archer Avenue in the Chinatown neighborhood.
A dark-colored vehicle pulled up next to the man's vehicle, and one or more people inside fired shot. A bullet struck the 25-year-old man in the leg, and he was taken to Stroger hospital, where he was listed in good condition.

Fourteen-year-old Ramon says he was just trying to help a man in his 70s mugged in a park in Chinatown over the weekend.
He didn't plan on running one of the robbers down, or wrestling him to the ground and trading punches and holding him until police arrived. Or becoming a hero in front of his dad on Father's Day.

Cops shut down Chinatown gambling parlor

Chicago police said they shut down a gambling parlor operating in the heart of the city's Chinatown neighborhood after officers spotted patrons playing video poker machines there last week.
Officers with the Vice Section’s license investigation team executed a search warrant on Tuesday at the parlor operating at the rear of the business in the 2300 block of South Wentworth Avenue.
Inside, officers seized 21 unlicensed video poker machines, as well as more than $38,000 cash from the money boxes inside them. Daily payout receipts and player tickets were recovered with computer equipment and machine circuit boards.
Police said they were turned on to the gambling spot last week when they discovered numerous amusement devices in plain sight at the rear of the business, with several people engaged in play.
The business has been the scene of previous gambling complaint.
The business' owners, Debby Tsao, 56, of the 2900 block of South Archer Avenue, was charged with a municipal violation of gambling and misdemeanor keeping a gambling place

3 people stabbed in ChinaTown

Three people were stabbed on the Near South Side.

Police don't yet know the circumstances surrounding the incident.
Greer said the stabbing happened on the 2300 block of South Canal Street.
Two men in their 20s and a female whose age wasn't available were all stabbed and are in serious condition
UPDATE:
During a domestic dispute Thursday night.
A 47-year-old woman and a 19-year-old man were arguing with a 42-year-old man when all three were stabbed.
The 42-year-old is being described by police as an "offender" and is in custody at Northwestern Hospital, where he was taken in serious condition because of his wounds.
The 19-year-old was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital and the woman went to Northwestern Memorial Hospital

Chicago Police Warn Restaurants About Orders Called In From Cell Phones

Some restaurants are now refusing to deliver to cell phone customers following a rash of robberies of their drivers.
Police say lots of food delivery drivers in Chicago are getting robbed by people using cell phones to target them.
So, Chicago police just issued a business alert. It warns business owners in the Chinatown and Hyde Park areas not to take any cell phone orders
