A 9-year-old boy and a 24-year-old woman were shot while sitting inside a residence in Englewood tonight.
The two were in a home on the 6400 block of South Racine Avenue about 10 p.m. when someone shot at the residence from outside, wounding the pair.
The boy suffered a gunshot wound to the chest and was in critical condition at Comer Children's Hospital, while the woman sustained a graze wound to the chest and was in good condition.
A Fire Department spokesman said both of the victims had been reported in serious-to-critical condition when they were taken from the scene.
The scene of the shooting is near the eastern edge of Ogden Park in the Englewood neighborhood on the South Side.

At least 3 wounded in South Side shootings
At least three people were wounded this afternoon and evening in separate shootings on the city's South Side, officials saidThe latest shooting happened about 8:35 p.m. on the 6400 block of South Racine Avenue in the Englewood neighborhood, police said.
Preliminary reports said an 18-year-old man was shot in the arm. There was no information available about his condition or where he was taken for treatment.

Earlier this afternoon, a 28-year-old man was shot in the hand on the 6200 block of South Paulina Street, police said.
Preliminary reports said the man was walking on the street about 1:15 p.m. when someone approached and shot him. The man was taken in good condition to Holy Cross Hospital, police said.

Shortly after 5 p.m., a 21-year old man was shot in his buttocks on the 2400 block of West 35th Street, police said.
That man was taken in good condition to Mount Sinai Hospital.
As of 9:30 p.m., no one was in custody for any of the shootings. Wentworth Area detectives were investigating.

Man stabbed to death
The second homicide, a stabbing, occurred about 12:36 a.m. today in the 1200 block of West 64th Street in the Englewood neighborhood on the South Side, police said. The victim, a 31-year-old male, was dead at the scene, police said. No other information was available.

Man found shot in back on South Side
A 21-year-old man was found shot in the back this afternoon in the Englewood neighborhood on the South Side.
The shooting happened shortly before 1 p.m. on the 6600 block of South Morgan Street, said Police News Affairs Officer Dan O'Brien.
The man, who suffered a wound to his back, was taken in critical condition to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, said Chicago Fire Department spokesman Quention Curtis.
There was no immediate information available about the circumstances leading up to the shooting.

In the first shooting, a 26-year-old man was in serious-to-critical condition after being shot on the 6300 block of South Carpenter Street in the Englewood neighborhood, police said.
The man was shot two to three times on the right side of his body at about 6:55 p.m. and was taken to Stroger Hospital, police and fire officials said.

A 31-year-old man was shot to death at an Englewood residence early this evening, according to police.
