A 37-year-old man found critically wounded on a street in the Washington Park neighborhood this morning died hours after the shooting, authorities said.
Killed was Lonnie Garnett, of the 600 block of East 61st Street, according to the Cook County medical examiner's office.
Police found Garnett's bullet-ridden body on the street at about 2 a.m. on the 5800 block of South Wabash Avenue, authorities said.
The victim was taken in critical condition to Stroger Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 7:20 a.m., said police and a medical examiner's spokesman. An autopsy is scheduled for Thursday.
A police spokeswoman could offer no new details, but said no arrests had been made in the shooting.
