Woman dies after being shot on West Side

A 60-year-old woman was pronounced dead this evening after she was shot in the chest on the city's West Side in the Austin neighborhood.
The shooting happened about 6:20 p.m. on the 1100 block of North Menard Avenue, saud Police News Affairs Officer Veejay Zala.
Preliminary reports said the woman was taken in critical condition to Loyola University Medical Center in Maywood with gunshot wounds to her chest and abdomen.  A spokesman for the Cook County medical examiner's office said they were notified of her death.

According to preliminary reports, the woman, later identified by the Cook County medical examiner's office as Robin Winston of the 1100 block of North Menard Avenue, was shot in her chest and abdomen and taken in critical condition to Loyola University Medical Center in Maywood. She was pronounced dead at 6:52 p.m
