man was shot in the head and critically wounded after someone opened fire from a passing car on an Englewood street this afternoon, police said.
The man, believed to be in his mid-20s, was in the 6500 block of South Sangamon Street just before 5 p.m. when a car pulled up and someone started firing, said Chicago Police News Affairs Officer John Mirabelli, citing preliminary information.
The man suffered a gunshot wound to the head and was taken to Stroger Hospital, Mirabelli said.
Fire Department paramedics took the victim to Stroger in serious-to-critical condition, said Chicago Fire Department spokesman Richard Rosado.
