Mom, boyfriend charged with abuse of West Town children

A 22-year-old woman and her boyfriend have been charged after police say an 8-month-old boy was bitten, burned with hot water and suffered broken bones, while a 3-year-old girl was so badly neglected she lost weight and hair.
Priscilla Forys, 22, who is their mother, was charged with felony aggravated battery and misdemeanor counts of endangering the life and health of a child and contributing to the neglect of a child.
Her boyfriend, Julian Hernandez, 21, was charged with felony aggravated battery and misdemeanor endangering the life and health of a child.
Hernandez is accused of putting the 8-month baby in a tub Jan. 30 with scalding hot water, causing 3rd degree burns to the knees, stomach and feet of the victim. A similar incident occurred on Dec. 28, police records allege.
Forys not only placed the boy in a tub of hot water, but also bit him with her teeth “while in an angry rage” on at least three occasions, causing permanent scarring.
In late January, the couple took the child to the hospital after they noticed his upper right leg was swollen.

The mother told police that at different times she caused multiple fractures to the baby’s legs and arms.
She “grabbed” the malnourished boy and “viciously’’ bit his legs and arm, causing him to scream.
Additionally, she admitted to burning the 8-month-old boy with hot water.
 The 3-year-old girl has been “severely neglected,’’ causing her to suffer weight and hair loss, in addition to infections, and to become malnourished.
Department of Children and Family Services spokesman Jimmie Whitelow said their investigation began Jan. 3
 The children are now in the custody of DCFS and no other children were living in that household.
DCFS has had no prior contact with the family
