Police warn of attempted child abduction on Far South Side

Police issued a community alert today warning about an attempted child abduction last week on the city's Far South Side in the Roseland neighborhood.
About 11 a.m. last Wednesday, an 11-year-old girl was walking on the 10400 block of South State Street when a man driving a dark 4-door vehicle began to follow her.
The man offered the girl money and a cell phone, trying to lure her to his vehicle. The girl refused and the man drove off as a teacher approached.
Police described the man as white about 40-years-old with dark eyes and black hair. He was wearing a white shirt.
Anyone with information about the incident should contact the Area South Detective Division at 312-747-8271.
