Police release photos in S. Side gas station slaying; $6K reward offered

Chicago police released surveillance photos today of two men wanted in the fatal shooting of the part-owner of a BP gas station in the Bronzeville neighborhood last month.

The co-owner, identified as Jojo James, 31, of northwest suburban Des Plaines, was taken in critical condition toJohn H. Stroger, Jr. Hospital of Cook County, where he was pronounced dead, according to the Cook County medical examiner's office.
 shooting happened about 1:30 p.m. on Christmas Eve at the gas station located at 43rd and State streets,.
Police initially received a call alerting them to someone being beaten but soon got more calls reporting a robbery in progress. When officers arrived at the scene, they found an employee with two gunshot wounds.
James had been part-owner of the gas station about five years and is the father of a 6-month-old infant. His wife is also expecting another child, said his brother-in-law and business partner Stephen Chacko.
The BP company, James' family and Chicago Crime Stoppers are offering a combined $6,000 reward to anyone with information leading to the arrest of the gunmen.
The robbers, who were described as black males between the ages of 20 and 35. They were wearing dark clothing, hooded sweatshirts and were armed with a semi-automatic handgun.
