A security guard was killed on the West Side.
The 51-year-old guard was shot about 9:40 p.m. in the parking lot of the Save-A-Lot grocery store in which he worked in the 5500 block of West North Avenue in the North Austin neighborhood.
Mayberry Porter, of the 4800 block of West Polk Street, was found with multiple gunshot wounds in the parking lot. Witnesses told police he had gotten into a grey or silver SUV in the parking lot with people who first shot him and then threw him out of the car.
Chicago Fire Department paramedics tried to revive the man, police said. They transported him to Stroger Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
