3 injured, one fatally, in Back of the Yards shooting

A 20-year-old man was killed and two others were injured in an early morning shooting in the Back of the Yards neighborhood.
The shooting occurred at about 3:45 a.m. on the 4500 block of South Marshfield Avenue.
Killed was Enrique Rodriguez who lived on the same block as the shooting. He was pronounced dead at John H. Stroger, Jr. Hospital of Cook County  at 9:32 a.m. after sustaining a gunshot wound to his abdomen.
Another man sustained a gunshot wound to his leg and the third man suffered a graze wound, Ursitti said.

I'm old enough to remember going to the Back of the Yards Free Fair put on by the elder Daley's machine. Of course, the neighborhood was safe then and a good time was had by all. I'm sure the original Dick is so proud of what his son has let this (his) city become.
