32-year-old man shot dead on South Side

A South Side man died from gunshot he received in a late afternoon shooting Saturday in the South Shore neighborhood.
Daniel Johnson, 32, of the 8000 block of South Ellis Avenue in the East Chatham neighborhood , was pronounced dead at about 6 p.m. Saturday.
Johnson has been standing with friends about 5:17 p.m. Saturday at 71st Street and Ridgeland Avenue on the South Side when an unknown offender produced a gun and began shooting.
