Teen bringing gun to NW Side school arrested

A 16-year-old boy was arrested on the grounds of a Northwest Side high school when he tried to enter the school with a loaded gun, police said.
The incident happened at about 9 a.m. at Foreman High School, 3235 N. Leclaire Ave., and the school was on lockdown until just before 10:30 a.m., as officers made sure the building was safe, according to Chicago Police Officer Laura Kubiak.
The teen is not a CPS student, but was recently been expelled, police said. Authorities stopped him on school grounds attempting to go into the school and trying to pass a bookbag to a student. Police responded to a call and arrested the teen.

 

Officers recovered a loaded semiautomatic handgun from the bag, Kubiak said.
