A 14-year-old boy was one of three people wounded Wednesday in separate shootings on the South Side, police said.
The first shooting occurred about 1:45 p.m. on the 7100 block of South Hoyne Avenue. Preliminary reports said the boy, 14, was walking with his friends when a group of males approached on foot and started a fight. The boy heard shots and began to run. Shortly after, he realized he was shot, police said.
There was no information available about the boy's condition, wounds or where he was taken for treatment.

The second shooting happened shortly after 6 p.m. on the 2800 block of West 63rd Street.
Preliminary reports said a 21-year-old woman was arguing with someone when a 24-year-old man came to her aid. The person she was arguing with pulled out a gun and shot the man, then shot the woman, police said.
The man was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn with a gunshot wound to his back. The woman was taken in serious condition to Mount Sinai Hospital with a wound to her chest, police said. The suspect fled in a silver vehicle.
