Police wounded a drug suspect and killed a dog that charged at them in his residence Thursday in the Mount Greenwood neighborhood.
At 3:25 p.m., narcotics officers were conducting a search warrant in the 10300 block of South Trumbull Avenue, according to police.
When officers got inside the building they saw a man open the door of a room and a dog charged at them, police said in a statement.
Officers shot and killed the dog, according to police News Affairs Officer Hector Alfaro. He did not know the type of dog.
The man named in the warrant suffered a graze wound to his legs, the release said.
He was taken into custody and transported to an area hospital.
No other injuries were reported.
The Independent Police Review Authority is investigating.
