A 15-year-old Gurnee girl upset that the family dog might be euthanized apparently took her parents' van and was killed when it rolled over in unincorporated Grayslake early this morning. The dog was killed too.
Taylor Stinchcomb, of the 1100 block of Hadley Circle, was taken to Condell Medical Center in Libertyville, where she was pronounced dead about 1:45 a.m., Lake County Coroner Artis Yancey said
Another 15-year-old girl was driving the vehicle when it crashed about 12:45 a.m. at the intersection of Almond Road and Route 120, said Lake County Sheriff's Lt. Christopher Thompson.
The girls had apparently taken the van from Stinchcomb's parents without permission because Taylor Stinchcomb was distraught that her family was considering putting down the family dog, which was suffering from cancer, Thompson said
