A 69-year-old woman was sexually assaulted and robbed as she exited an Orange Line CTA train and was getting into her vehicle on Friday.
The incident spurred a community alert by Chicago police officials who are warning people in the area to be vigilant.
The attack happened at 4:15 p.m. on the 4600 block of West 59th Street in the Garfield Ridge community.
The woman was returning home from work when she left the Orange Line train and was entering her vehicle, which was in a secured parking lot.
A man forced her into the vehicle after telling her he had a gun. Once she was inside the vehicle, the man sexually assaulted her and robbed her of money, a cell phone and an ATM card.
The man then drove the woman to various locations and forced her to make withdrawals from her bank account before he abandoned the woman and her vehicle on the West Side.
The man is described as a black man about 20 years old, between 5 feet 6 inches and 5 feet 9 inches tall and between 140 and 150 pounds.
