Man dies after car hits light pole, splits in half in South Side crash

A West Side man died early this morning after the car he driving hit a light pole, splitting in half and ejecting him.
The accident happened about 2:15 a.m. in the 7600 block of South Racine Avenue, in the Gresham neighborhood, said Chicago Police News Affairs Officer Amina Greer. The vehicle rolled over and one person died.
Dead was William Lane, 19, of the 4800 block of West Cortez Avenue.
Police said the man identified as Lane was driving south on Racine when his car hit a light pole, the vehicle split in half and one passenger was ejected, Greer said. Only one vehicle was  involved
