The teenage girl who was hit Thursday afternoon by a freight train on the Far South Side and killed was identified this morning as Erica Frye, 17, of the 5000 block of South Laflin Street.
She was hit by a train near 115th Street and Perry Avenue about 5 p.m. and taken in serous-to-critical conditon to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, where she died shortly before 6 p.m.
The northbound train had about 130 cars, and there are gates and lights at the nearest crossing.
