Chicago police have arrested a 21-year-old man they believe was involved in a shooting last month in the Lawndale that left a woman dead.
Parish Wilson, of the 0-99 block of North Hamlin Avenue, was arrested Wednesday morning in Carpentersville. He faces charges of first-degree murder and aggravated firing of a weapon into a vehicle. Wilson also was wanted on two warrants, according to police.
Killed was Jennifer Jiles, 33, of the 400 block North Springfield Avenue, was shot in the back of the head on July 28 and died on Aug. 5.
Police say that on evening of the shooting, witnesses flagged down officers saying they saw a woman shot in a van in the 3100 block of West Douglas Boulevard. The location is just west of Douglas Park. When they arrived, they learned that the woman had gotten herself out of the vehicle and made her way to Mount Sinai Hospital.
Before she died, she gave investigators information that led them to Wilson.
