A call from a CTA bus driver to police Tuesday led to the arrest of two men suspected of robbing a Blue Line passenger of his iPhone.
Tuesday, a man was listening to music on his iPhone when he exited a train at the Harlem Avenue Station and was grabbed from behind by his backpack.
The two robbers allegedly pulled the victim down the station's escalators to the platform with such force, the backpack straps broke and the bag was thrown on the tracks.
The pair then snatched the victim's phone and fled the station, boarding a northbound Harlem Avenue bus.
The driver alerted police after she overheard two passengers' suspicious conversation. The two were dropped off at a fast food restaurant.
Police apprehended Tevon Woods and Alvon Hoskins, both 20 and of Chicago at the restaurant.
Woods was standing in line waiting to order food and Hoskins was hiding in the restroom, prosecutors said. Police recovered the victim's phone in the restroom garbage can, and both men were identified by the victim.
The pair were both charged with one count of robbery and appeared in Central Bond Court this afternoon. Cook County Circuit Judge Peggy Chiampas set bail at $200,000 each.
