Boy dies after being hit by truck in alley

A 6-year-old boy died this afternoon after being struck by a pickup truck as he rode his bicycle in the city’s South Chicago neighborhood.
The incident happened at about 2:20 p.m. in an alley near 88th Street and Burley Avenue.
The pickup truck was being backed up when it struck the boy and ran over him.
The boy was taken to Comer Children’s Hospital at the University of Chicago in critical condition, according to the Chicago Fire Department.
The driver of the truck remained on scene after the incident. There was no immediate word of citations issued.
