A man was arrested this morning after he allegedly kidnapped a baby, then threw the child at officers when they approached him, police said.
The incident happened about 12:30 a.m. in the 1500 block of South Pulaski Road in the Lawndale neighborhood on the West Side.
Two police officers responded to the scene after receiving a report of a domestic incident, and when they arrived, they saw the man walking north on Pulaski with a baby in his arms.
The two officers approached the man, who turned and hurled the baby in the direction of one of the officers.
"The officer was able to catch the baby before the baby hit the concrete".
As that officer was handing the baby over to its mother, the man "became combative" with the officer's partner. There was a short struggle before the man was arrested.
