A woman and child were taken to a downtown hospital this morning after their sport utility vehicle went into a Jackson Park lagoon, authorities said.
The two were being taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital in good-to-fair condition after the vehicle went into the water just after 7:35 a.m. in a lagoon in Jackson Park, said Chicago Fire Department spokesman Richard Rosado. The vehicle was a Toyota Highlander.
The woman and child, possibly a mother and child, were in a vehicle that appeared to have accidentally gone into the water near 5900 South Cornell Avenue, said Chicago Police News Affairs Officer Robert Perez. They were not seriously injured but were being taken to Northwestern Memorial as a precaution, Perez said
