A 4-year-old girl was hospitalized in serious to critical condition after falling from a second-floor window in the Little Village neighborhood, officials said.
Chicago police and Fire Department paramedics were called to the 2100 block of South Millard Avenue at about 11 a.m., said Chicago Police News Affairs Officer Laura Kubiak.
The girl's mother told police she was changing her younger daughter's diaper and briefly lost sight of her. She then heard screaming and crying from outside and saw her 4-year-old daughter on the ground,
The girl suffered compound fractures to both arms and a skull fracture described as serious. She was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital, said Chicago Fire Department spokesman Will Knight.
