A male suspect was critically wounded during a police-involved shooting in the South Deering neighborhood on the Far South Side late Wednesday night, police said.
About 11:30 p.m., police exchanged gunfire with a male in an alley near South Hoxie Avenue and East 105th Street, according to South Chicago District police.
No police officers were injured, police said.
The male suspect was wounded and bleeding from the head, police said.
A person was taken in serious-to-critical condition to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, according to a Fire Media Affairs spokesman.
Police confirmed that a suspect was transported to the hospital, but said the suspect was not shot, according to police News Affairs Officer Hector Alfaro. He did not immediately know how the male was injuried.
The Independent Police Review Authority did not respond "based on notification there were no hits," according to spokeswoman Andrea Stoutenborough. She declined to say whether they were investigating.
No other information was immediately available.
