Woman bites finger off of man in attack

A woman bit a man’s finger off Friday in self-defense.
With a shotgun and shells in reach, Jerry Stevenson allegedly threatened to kill the 45-year-old woman and her twin children in their home in the 1600 block of South Hamlin Avenue during an argument in the early morning Friday.
Fearing for her life, the woman ran from the house
But Stevenson, 37, caught up to the woman, wrapping his hands around her throat and choking her.
When the woman realized one of Stevenson’s fingers was inside her mouth, she bit down hard and severed it.
Stevenson was taken to St. Anthony’s Hospital, where doctors were able to reattach his finger.
Charged with two misdemeanor counts of domestic battery and assault and one count of felony domestic battery strangulation, Stevenson appeared in Cook County Bond Court Sunday with his left hand wrapped in fresh bandages.
