Man found fatally shot on sidewalk in Englewood

A Marquette Park man was shot and killed this morning about four miles from his home.
Killed was Antonio Campbell, 35, of the 7200 block of South Sacramento Avenue. An autopsy is scheduled for today.
Officers responding to a "shots fired" call found Campbell's body lying on a sidewalk at about 2:08 a.m. in the 100 block of West 70th Street in the Englewood neighborhood.
Campbell suffered a single gunshot wound to the very center of his back, Mirabelli said. Officers at the scene also found several bullet casings, but no witnesses.
Campbell also had several felony convictions in his past, including a 2000 conviction for armed robbery and kidnapping, according to court records.

Cops: Man shot grabbing would-be robber's gun

A 33-year-old man was shot in the arm while attempting to foil an armed robbery in the city's Englewood neighborhood, police said today.
The victim was sitting in a vehicle parked in the 7100 block of South Wentworth Avenue at about 11:15 p.m. Sunday when a gunman approached and demanded cash, police said, citing early reports.
In response, the victim grabbed the gun and was shot in the forearm, police said. The man was taken to Mercy Hospital and Medical Center, where he was listed in good condition, police said.

Suspect held in fatal South Side stabbing

A suspect was in custody in the early morning stabbing death of a man in his South Chicago neighborhood residence.
Andrew Hall, 37, of the 7300 block of South Yale Avenue, was pronounced dead this morning at the Stein Institute after a verbal argument turned physical, according to authorities.
During an argument, his assailant grabbed a knife and started stabbing him, police said. The incident happened about 1:25 a.m.
The suspect was taken into police custody this morning, officials said.
So far, no charges have been filed. Wentworth Area detectives were investigating.

44 YR Man Shot in Englewood

At 1:28 a.m. in Englewood, a 44-year-old man was sitting in a parked vehicle in the 100 block of

West 70th Street

when he was shot, a release said. The man was talking to a friend when a bullet came through the window and struck him in the head, police said. No one else was injured. He was taken in critical condition to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn.
